Additional information | After intense research, for which it was necessary to build a database with more than 1000 interventions and the contribution of more than 100 professionals, the Order of Engineers launched the book "100 Works of Portuguese Engineering in the World, in the Century XX". In this book, which intends to distinguish the most important interventions of Portuguese engineering during the last century on several continents, it is possible to observe some unique examples of what was the ingenuity and innovation of Portuguese engineers, of the adverse natural conditions that they had to overcome in order to build some works and their contribution to the economic and social development of the countries where they intervened with their projects, as well as to the dignification of Portuguese engineering in the world. With an integrated selection in ten regions and countries - Europe, Maghreb and Middle East, Cape Verde, S. Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, Mozambique, Americas, Macau, Timor-Leste and India - the works present in this book were chosen according to criteria of originality of the project, introduction of innovative technologies in construction and the contribution of these same works to the development of the country in question. "100 Works of Portuguese Engineering in the World, in the 20th Century" is an edition of the Order of Engineers and has a preface by the President of the Order of Engineers, Francisco Sousa Soares, and an introduction on Portuguese Engineering in the World up to the 20th century, by Engineer Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira. |
