MARTIN HECKER
The novelty never appears alone. It comes before anyone who sees shape, harmony and conjugation in a very particular way, in a refreshing uniqueness. Curiosity for different styles and nuances is almost always the main reason for new mixtures and consequent trends, ending up enriching our entire culture. Art, in its largest and most comprehensive dimension, and so often mistakenly taken for granted, is the result of an enormous investment in availability, creativity, learning, passion, dreams and a lot of study, both visual and technical. Martin Hecker attributes to his work the importance of adornment, as an element of decorative essence creating, above all, pieces that positively influence the narrative of the space. Figurative and dominated by color, Martin Hecker's work suggests influences from Pop Art and urban culture, as well as a passion for comics and photography. These and other artistic expressions (or simple glances around the world) are given to passionate interpretations of their own, uncompromised and free, of a universe that mixes reality and the imaginary with a hint of humor. The author, a native of Germany and resident in Porto for 40 years, has always dedicated part of his life to plastic arts having, in recent years, gained a special notoriety and held several exhibitions, both in Portugal and in Germany.
